Thou Shalt Not Spill Thy Seed!

College guys and gay men would be doomed if this bill becomes law!  I personally don’t appreciate a bunch of pro-life advocates telling me what to do with my sperm.  If I want to freeze it and mix it with my Bacardi and Coke, that’s my own damn business!

“Cher: Female Force” Goes on Sale

Cher and comic book fans will think they’ve found nirvana with the publication of a new comic book about the entertainer’s frenetic world.  Writer Marc Shapiro said Cher’s life and career “reads like a comic book.”  “The clothes, the times, the attitudes of the decades she’s lived through.  The different styles of music she’s been involved in.  So much of what Cher has experienced is so flamboyant, over the top and just plain out there,” said Shapiro.  “She has been very much the real life equivalent of a superhero, and writing about Cher, to a large degree, has been just about letting my imagination go.”  If you need any imagination regarding Cher, either she hasn’t done her job well, or you’re asexual.

Valentine’s Day by the Numbers

As usual, you can blame the Romans for this holiday, too.  Ancient Romans began celebrating a ritual of purification and fertility called Lupercalia around the first century BCE (meaning a really long time ago).  The festival was held on the 15th of February in the Lupercal, a cave at the foot of the Palatine where Romulus and Remus – the founders of Rome – were nurtured by a she-wolf.

If that makes you dizzy, then consider these facts:

  • 62% of adults say they celebrate Valentine’s Day
  • $448 million spent on candy the week before February 14
  • 58 million pounds of chocolate candy bought during Valentine’s week
  • 36 million heart-shaped chocolate boxes sold for the holiday
  • 150 million Valentine’s Day cards and gifts sent each year
  • 23% of adults say they purchase flowers or plants on Valentine’s Day (61% are male, 39% are female)
  • 8 billion Sweethearts® produced annually – enough to stretch from Rome, Italy to Valentine, Arizona and back 20 times
  • $8.6 million Americans spend on wine for Valentine’s Day
  • 174,000 gallons of wine sold in the week leading up to Valentine’s Day

Top 10 Greatest Romance Novels of All Time

Romance novels are as old as time itself.  From the moment a Neanderthal man first clubbed a desirable female over the head, people have been in love with…well, being in love!  Romance tales sweep us into the netherworld of perfect unions where every man has 6-pack abs and women never have that not-so-fresh feeling.  Ah…sweet ignorance!  Here is a list of the 100 best romance stories ever to be born of lonely hearts.

“Gulf of America” Bill Was a Joke, Mississippi Lawmaker Says

Following on the “redneck” piece, Mississippi State Rep. Steve Holland, a Democrat, says his proposed bill to rename the Gulf of México the “Gulf of America” was purely “satirical.”  I have to admit I wouldn’t be surprised if some legislator actually tried this.  If anything, though, they could just call it the Big Gulf!

“Redneck” Bus Driver Fights His Termination

Ken Webber of Medford, Oregon has filed a lawsuit against the Phoenix-Talent School District to get his job back as a school bus driver.  Webber was fired after he refused to remove a Confederate flag with the word “Redneck” emblazoned across the back of it from the CB antenna on his pickup truck.  He claims his free speech rights have been violated.  First of all, I’m shocked to find out there are rednecks in Oregon.  I didn’t realize they’d migrated that far north.  But, I guess, since there are Negroes in México, that really shouldn’t come as a surprise.  Second, if the U.S. Supreme Court can allow the Westboro Baptist Church scumbags to protest at funerals, then I imagine a school bus driver in rural Oregon can fly a Confederate flag from his own truck.  Tell me, though, doesn’t he look a little like “Larry, the Cable Guy” – except cuter?

Louis Vutton Condom

I don’t care how fashionable this would look on me, I’m not spending $68 for a piece of lambskin.  You could buy a pack of regular condoms for $12.  If you’re in a hurry, just grab some cellophane and a rubber band.
