“The Church says their position has always been very plain. If children want to be around gay adults, they can become altar boys.”
Bill Maher, regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling that the Roman Catholic Church can’t be forced to place foster children with same-sex couples
I was very upset with this ruling, especially given it was agreed upon by all justices.
I was, too. I don’t know any same-sex couples who have adopted children, but I figure it’d be better for a homeless kid to be adopted by a loving queer couple than to remain in a foster home.
The bigger implication is religion holds more sway than discrimination. That’s a dangerous road to travel down.
Sadly, yes. I recall a 1991 international conference on environmental welfare was held in Brazil, and the subject of family planning was supposed to be part of the agenda. That obviously meant birth control and maybe abortion. Activists insisted that population control is essential to maintaining a stable environment. But the Brazilian Catholic Church managed to get the subject of family planning whittled down to virtually nothing. I was incredibly angered by that!
Right. Another problem for Jesus to solve. And hey, if the world ends, they all go to heaven so it’s all good, right?
As that old country and western song said: heaven’s just a sin away!
That’s the kind of heaven I’d rather go to. LOL
I’ll wait for you!
