  1. Next time anyone tells me good always triumphs over evil I’ll point to the Republican Party and say, “prove it.”

    • I know you’re a non-believer, Jen, and I respect that. I’ve approached that mode of thinking myself a few times. But I’m a strong believer in karma; that what goes around comes around. It may not be obvious or loud, but things often happen to people to bite back at their ill behavior.

I’ve pointed to Ronald Reagan. He often said, for example, that he didn’t remember what happened regarding the Iran-Contra scandal. During a press conference towards the end of his administration, a reporter asked him what he thought about Michael Dukakis seeking help for depression, and Reagan commented that he didn’t make fun of the disabled (or something like that). A few years later he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and ended up practically wheelchair-bound and bed-ridden.

I don’t mock disabled and/or elderly people. I’ve dealt with elderly, disabled parents and other relatives. My mother suffered from dementia in her final years. But there was something about Reagan’s health woes that made me feel somewhat vindicated.

Many of the Capitol Hill rioters have now been arrested and are facing serious criminal charges. Donald Trump himself is facing criminal charges for his own financial shenanigans.

Regardless, it may not be obvious, but for the most part, people just don’t get away with stuff for too long.
