“Here’s a quick thought experiment: If AOC was fat and in her 60s, would anyone listen to another thing she ever said?”
TV personality Adam Carolla, about Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, to FOX News commentator Sean Hannity
Carolla, creator and co-host of the now-defunct “Man Show”, argued that while the 32-year-old politician is “young, vibrant and beautiful,” and “everyone’s always putting a camera and a mike in her face,” her “opinions are idiotic 95 percent of the time.”
“If you’re going to do this, then let’s be truthful about it, because the Holocaust isn’t about race. It’s not about race. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about.”
Whoopi Goldberg, on The View
Goldberg made the comments during a discussion of how the Nazi Holocaust-centered graphic novel “Maus” was banned by a Tennessee school board. That school board banned the book, Goldberg said, because there were complaints about the novel containing nudity and bad language. “The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let’s talk about it for what it is – it’s how people treat each other. It’s a problem. It doesn’t matter if you’re Black or white because Black, white, Jews – everybody.”
Goldberg apologized the next day for her comments, but ABC announced immediately they had decided to suspend her for two weeks.
“If we can do a better job to remember that we’re all created in God’s image, ‘b’tzelem Elohim.’ If we could all do more to tone down the rhetoric in politics and on talk shows and remember that we can debate ideas. We don’t have to agree. We also don’t have to attack one another personally to get our point across.”
Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker, who was taken hostage at gunpoint for 11 hours along with three other congregants at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas on January 15
The phrase ‘b’tzelem elohim,’ means “in the image of God”.
“We depend upon one another whether we know it or not and we are made better when more of us are seen and heard and helped. So many tiny-tribe people have been fooled into believing that someone else’s gain is their loss; that this existence is competitive when it is actually supposed to collaborative, that we take care of our own. That is a sad way to spend the brief time here that we have. I want something better.”
John Pavlovitz, in “Yes, This Is All About Tribalism”
“I saw a large group and made a joke. Sadly when Democrats see the same they demonize my family for a year straight.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert, trying to explain her response to a group of Orthodox Jewish visitors to the U.S. Capitol
The group, whose members donned traditional yarmulkes, was meeting with Rep. Tom Suozzi. Boebert’s remark came just days after a hostage-taking ordeal at a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas.
“And the solution is as simple as the problem. Here’s the solution, stop putting up with it. Say no. No, you can’t smoke meth in the park. You’re not allowed to crap on the sidewalk. Pull up your pants and get the hell out of here. Go somewhere with lower standards. Head for a place where politicians don’t care about their people, because we do care and that’s why we’re hauling your tent to a landfill and cutting off your checks today. You are a drug addict. Get a job or leave. This is our city, you are not allowed to wreck it; you didn’t build it.”
Tucker Carlson, suggesting how to deal with homeless people
“[It] shows that she was comparing the pre-Holocaust period in Nazi Germany to some aspects of America today, specifically, she was noting how history has shown us that certain countries and regimes have indeed separated people into second class citizens. In essence, she was saying that Jews were branded as second class citizens back then with a gold star, and today we were also seeing a branding and division of people between the vaccinated, and the unvaccinated – two classes of people. That was the point she made look she wasn’t coming from a place of hate.”
David Brody, a Christian Broadcasting Network commentator, expressing support for comments made by Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene about mask mandates
Sen. Rand Paul and wife Kelley
“I have been targeted multiple times now. It is reprehensible that Twitter allows C-list celebrities to advocate for violence against me and my family!”
Sen. Rand Paul, declaring that singer Richard Marx is behind a mysterious package left on his doorstep
The package contained white powder and a threatening note. Paul was referring to a recent Tweet by Marx stating: “I’ll say it again: If I ever meet Rand Paul’s neighbor I’m going to hug him and buy him as many drinks as he can consume.” That, in turn, refers to a 2017 incident between Paul and one of his neighbors that turned violence.
The FBI is investigating the package, but there’s no proof Marx had anything to do with it.
Some gifts are best presented as is. With a verbally-challenged President like Donald Trump, those gifts can be unexpected. At least that’s what the National Museum of American Jewish History has realized, following yet another gaff by our faux Commander-in-Chief. In a speech about the beauty of America’s national parks, Trump had trouble pronouncing the Yosemite in Yosemite National Park; a 1200 sqm. (310,798 h) gem in California, perhaps most famous for its astounding giant sequoia trees.
In response, the NMAJ has produced a tee shirt to honor the moment and has already sold 1,500. Amidst the humor, there is irony. Untold numbers of die-hard Trump supporters with White supremacist leanings will undoubtedly be horrified to learn their man has created profits for a Jewish institution.
“It looks like a Jew coup.”
– Rick Wiles, founder of TruNews, a website aimed at conservative Christians, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland
Wiles later said the statement just “came out of my mouth,” adding, “All I pointed out was many of the people involved were Jewish.” When asked if the term could be interpreted as anti-Semitic, Wiles declared, “It’s hard to say. I don’t know. I can tell you from my heart there is no ill will toward the Jewish people, with all sincerity.”
The next “coup” – Jewish-led or not – needs to come when Trump’s fat ass is voted out of office and sent back to his Manhattan penthouse, along with the rest of his corrupt family.
